Freedom Adventures Ecolodge is personally hosted by Liza, creating a more connected and supported experience for every group.
Liza’s connection to the Solomon Islands and the local community is at the heart of the experience. From coordinating daily activities to helping guests feel at ease in a remote village setting, she is there to ensure your stay flows smoothly and naturally.
Her approach is relaxed and intuitive—allowing space for your group to enjoy time together, while being available whenever needed.
By having a host present, guests are able to fully unwind, knowing that everything is taken care of while experiencing a place that feels both authentic and welcoming.
Liza resides on-site in a private room, while your group enjoys exclusive use of the ecolodge and shared spaces.

Joel has been part of the journey from the very beginning, helping to build Freedom Adventures Ecolodge alongside Liza.
With a strong understanding of what travellers, fishermen, and ocean lovers are looking for, Joel helps shape experiences on the water that feel both enjoyable and authentic.
John
John has lived in Haʻapai Village for over 35 years and lives right next door to the ecolodge, bringing a deep, everyday connection to the place and community.
His extensive knowledge of local history, traditions, and the surrounding environment adds depth to the experience, offering guests a more meaningful understanding of the lagoon and its stories.
The journey to bring this vision to life has been both beautiful and challenging, shaped by resilience, humility, and many lessons from the people of Haʻapai. They’ve taught us the true meaning of tatamana (family), and a way of life where family, community, and togetherness are at the heart of every action.
The people of Haapai have single-handedly safeguarded the last patch of virgin rainforest on New Georgia Island and continues to self-organise, running their own school and supporting one another in daily life.
Freedom Adventures Ecolodge is built on the belief that tourism can be done differently.
By hosting a small number of groups, working closely with the local community, and embracing a slower pace of travel, we aim to create experiences that are both meaningful for our guests and respectful of place.

Solar by the Sea Project
Long before Freedom Adventures Ecolodge began welcoming guests, the connection to Haʻapai Village was already deeply rooted.
In partnership with AIP Collective and the Solar by the Sea project, we were involved in a journey that sailed from Australia to Haʻapai Village to help install solar power at the local primary school.
The project brought together people from different places with a shared goal — supporting the village through renewable energy while strengthening connections between community, culture, and environment.
For us, this was never just about tourism. It was about maintaining connection to home, supporting the community where the ecolodge is based, and contributing in meaningful ways over time.
Haʻapai Village sits within Roviana Lagoon on New Georgia Island, surrounded by one of the last remaining areas of virgin rainforest on the island. It is a place deeply connected to both land and sea, where community and environment remain closely intertwined.
Experiences like this continue to shape the way Freedom Adventures Ecolodge operates today — with a focus on respect for place, meaningful connection, and supporting the long-term wellbeing of the surrounding communities and environment.
